Some quaternion fractals that I've discovered/made...

There is a call for Saskatchewan artists to design 10 art awards, and I'm thinking of submitting the fractals as potential awards.

Which ones do you like best? I've printed a few out in plastic, and my favourite is 'Flower'.

I think I like either Bolt or Taffy. They look pretty cool. I assume you used a 3D printer? What exactly is a quaternion fractal?

Thanks for your vote. Yep, I printed out those fractals using a 3D printer.

Rather than giving you a poor explanation, I'll give you some links to good information about fractals:

I used the formula Z = Z*Z + C for Taffy and Bolt. I used other formulas for the other fractals.

Attached is a document that I wrote about them.

Bolt is probably my favorite as-is, though it looks distinctly like the innards of a seashell to me, and not much like a bolt. But I think Tornado could be really cool if you could rotate it to stand upright instead of laying down. And a blue or black material would be a lot better than gray.

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

Thanks too for the vote, it's truly appreciated.

If you're serious about purchasing a printed copy of Tornado, I can add a version without the stand. Just let me know.

Yeah, I'm thinking of printing future copies in black plastic for an award design competition that's going on right now in Saskatchewan. Or steel, but the price is like 10x the price of plastic, if the award design committee is willing to dish out the cash.

Ah, sorry, no, I don't buy art. I don't even have enough room in my house for the art I make and the art my siblings and cousins make and then give me... ^_^;

Sorry, didn't mean to pressure you; I don't make a dime, which makes my sales pitch rusty to non-existent. I could set up a Shapeways or Etsy shop and have mark up, but I won't. I guess that makes me a socialist pig. :)
