Is there any way I could implement my own text box into my game...? I''m using DX8, and I just want a simple little box where some general info gets displayed periodically, like "You cast the spell (insert spell here), inflicting (insert damage here) points of damage." Is there anyone out here that could help me out please?

Search the DirectX Helpfiles for fonts, there are a few built in classes to handle text (sorry I would help more but as I use directdraw still I dont really have much knowledge of these directx font classes) then just put a 2d sprite on screen then write your text over it.
