I would like to know where can i find applications for hair and cloth simulation, with the code, and also the maths behind this type of simulation. Edited by - chuskyherrero on March 12, 2002 3:06:03 PM

To summarise, one can simulate string and cloth by making a 1 or 2 dimensional set of springs. This provides reasonable simulation. Depending on the required usage, eg hair can be made of lots of strings, but they have to interact, which would not be feasable in realtime. cloth is very feasable to implement, but it is harder to avoid self intersection, and reducing to a line or point, if dropped incorrectly. For a simple overview look at: http://freespace.virgin.net/hugo.elias/

it has a string... cloth (and gel ie the 3D analogue) simulation, includign examples, and maths
