You automatically have a copyright on anything that you have created.
Well thats all good until you have to PROVE the copyright...

You have copyright on anything you make, but there won''t be a lawyer willing to help you without paperwork.
Its easy to prove copyright on a game. Every time you back it up save it to a CD. You will have an incremental record of your game''s creation.

also you might want to put one of the cds in a sealed envelope and post it to yourself. that way you get a legally upholdable date on the cretion of that code via the US postmark.

don''t ever open that envelope though.

Guys, _don''t_ do this. It''s been defeated in court many, many times.

What you should do is put a copy in an envelope, and then have a notary public certify that he saw you do it and place his seal on the envelope.
You might wanna go to the Library of Congress website. For $30 you can copyright the code and graphics. www.loc.gov
AP is correct. Posting something to yourself is NOT proof. You could easily post an unsealed, empty envelop to yourself and then at a later date put something in and seal it.

APs suggestion is the way to go.
