Skill Trees 'n' Stuff in RPGs

Right now I''m desiging an RPG and the skill system in it is still undecided. I''m trying to pick one from an existing game and modify it a little bit or form a hybrid from two or more games'' systems. Possible candidates for usage are the systems from FF10, Diablo II, or Nox. I''m just not quite sure how I should go about deciding this.

I am not good at RPG elements and character skill stuff, but I have a bunch of ideas. If you would be willing to develop skill system that can work in my game, I''d be happy to work on it with you. My game: www.star-fortress.com, RPG elements aren''t defined yet so its open.

Why don''t you make skills user definable?

eg. any macro of game actions constitutes a skill

Does the rpg have a theme?
