New to Direct3D...

I was able to barely grasp DirectDraw (to the point of being able to blit bitmaps to screen and move them around), but I want to move on to Direct3D... I was wondering if this was a good idea or not? I wanted to do 2D in Direct3D because Direct3D have many advantages (rotation, scaling, special stuff like particles, etc...). It would help if I can have a "partner" who is new to Direct3D also so we can learn together (looks around for raised hands) Anybody want to join me in the quest for Direct3D? (DirectGraphics actually) If you want to join me (the dark side heh) email me at Bartrack@yahoo.com ----------------------------- You know your game is in trouble when your AI says, in a calm, soothing voice, "I'm afraid I can't let you do that, Dave" [edited by - Zeraan on June 9, 2002 2:01:29 AM]

It would be wise to learn to use Direct Draw throughly before moving into Direct 3D. There are many fundamentals of 2D that are in 3D when it comes to texturing and surface based calculations. I was once in your shoes, doing a little in 2D and wanting to do more. You must climb the stairs, only one step at a time.

I know only that which I know, but I do not know what I know.
