About Me

I am currently a Senior Java/J2EE Developer at a small company that writes software for cars. My main hobby is game development. I love music and I am always listening to tunes while developing. My strongest programming languages are Java and C# (I have professional experience in both). Languages I know but do not use all the time are C++, VB.NET, ASP.NET, SQL and Javascript. I originally started out using the Irrlicht graphics engine but felt that I wasn't learning enough about the essentials of Game Development because the engine was handling all of the intricacies. After Irrlicht I moved to raw DirectX 9 and I have been developing games in it for the last 2 years and building an Engine? Okay not really, it is a dumping ground of useful code and functions, somewhat organized. Now that I am more familiar with the building blocks of game development and the different aspects I have moved back to the Irrlicht graphics engine for my latest project. In the future if the ExEn framework gets off the ground and released publicly I will be planning on giving that a go as I have been thinking about making the jump to develop for the mobile platforms but do not want to move back to raw C++ or learn objective C.

About a year and a half ago I was talked into trying out XNA and fell in love with it. Shortly after that I quickly ported and re-wrote my engine so it has a consist design pattern now and it also gave me the opportunity to correct a lot of the things I felt were done poorly in my original engine. I do not get a lot of time to develop games anymore between my day job and running my company at night but when I do I love to write in XNA.
