Since we need your votes to actually be accepted on Steam, we would really appreciate it if you can take the time to have a look and if you like it of course to vote us.

Lights in RTS game

14 February 2006 - 03:57 AM

Hi, my team and I are now trying to figure how to go with lights in our 3D RTS game and we have the following setup and options: - The main light source (sun, moon) baked in a static lightmap. That's ok - Small, local lights...we have the following options at least 1. Fake them : billboards or particle systems for light cones. Lite and easy to do but lacks dynamic lighting of other objects and shadow generation 2. Real : using shaders. Slower as all materials must accept multiple light sources but we get dynamic lighting and shadows What other options are there and which would be best for a RTS game (having lots of lights on screen at once). Thank you.

Mozilla Search plugin

hi, I have written a small Mozilla search plugin for the forums. I didn't find any so far so I decided to write one since I'm using this feature a lot. Here it goes: Rhea-Project site and click on "Gamedev Forum Search Mozilla Plugin".
