Application Resolution for different devices

If someone can help me, I would be very grateful.

So my problem is that I started to use cocos2d-x(multi-platform game engine for iPhone,Android,Windows) for a 2D game... But my problem now, is how to make my game for different devices ( iPhone, iPad, and other Android phones, I don't even know what resolution Android phones use, they all are different), how to handle different resolutions and aspect ratios(the same goes for window application, for different monitors) ?

And I whant to start making images for my game, what resolution and aspect ratio should I start with for my images, so then it will be easier to transform them for the needed resolution and aspect ratio ?

If I have some variables, that are used often, like pointer to graphic context, Display Window, resources reference, is ok to put all these inside a header file and include it in a precompiled header ?

Help understanding pointer to classes

So I have two classes:


class A

{

Virtual void Do (){ ...Do something... };

}


and derived class:

class B: public A

{

void Do(){ ...Do Something else... }

}





So having a pointer of type A* that holds address of an object of type B, can I call A->Do() so that it calls the method Do() from the B class ?

Noob question about headers

I have this from an example program from ClanLib, program.h :

#pragma once

// This is the Program class that is called by CL_ClanApplication
class Program
{
public:
static int main(const std::vector<CL_String> &args);
};


But I don't get it, how can this work in their project ?
In my project I should include <vector> and <ClanLib/core.h> for these, or the project won't compile...

Question about a trigger system

Hi, I'm still trying to understand how game works, so I have a noob question, how to implement a trigger system in to a game ? Then an object enters an area, then an object get's hit, and so on...

Can someone explain a bit, or at least tell me about a book or something where I could find something about this...
