What is this falloff function called?

05 March 2013 - 01:25 PM

I've seen this function used for falloff before, but I've never known it's name. It makes it very hard for me to find again, but I've used it many times.

Does anybody know if it has a name/what it is?

y = a + b*(c/(c+x))

It's nice because it's a very tweakable and simple function that doesn't do anything too crazy for unexpected values for x. Also open to knowing other cool falloff functions that might be interesting :)

Chris Matthews makes me sad

07 November 2012 - 07:19 AM

http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2012/11/matthews-thirdparty-voters-are-idiots-148639.html

Not sure if anybody saw, but Chris Matthews pretty much called everybody supporting a third party candidate an idiot yesterday. It made me totally depressed knowing a member of the media was so openly against third parties. I understand it as he's fairly strongly democrat, and any strong republican/democrat would have the most interest in putting down third parties, but it just made me so depressed that he would criticize voters' choices like that.

I understand and somewhat agree with his rant against people who don't vote, but the rant against people who choose not to vote for neither of two candidates that have plenty to dislike just made me very sad.

Anyway. I just wanted to vent my frustration with him.

Madre De Dios! A dream tablet PC?! D:

They look so good D:

Posted Image

Series 5 specs($750ish):
Intel Atom
2 GB Ram
64 GB SSD
11.5" (1,366x768) display

Series 7 Specs ($1100ish):
Intel I5
4 GB RAM
128 GB SSD
11.5" (1,920x1,080) display

Both:
Pressure sensitive pen with 1024 levels of sensitivity (unsure of how accurate the digitizer is though)
Docking keyboard that may work as battery backup

HNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

Sorry, this is pretty well near exactly what I've wanted from a portable tablet for the past 7 years, so I'm a bit excited.

edit: resolutions added.

edit: Adding Asus 810 because it is also HOTHOTHEAT http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCSzREwZQcw&feature=youtu.be

Asus 810 ($???):
Next gen Intel Atom processor (??? performance???)
2GB RAM
64GB SSD
11.6" Screen ( 1,366 x 768 )
WACOM DIGITIZER

Biggest difference is that there isn't a more powerful version of the Asus. They seem fairly comparable for the lower end devices, but Asus confirmed it's basing it's pricing off the new iPad so probably around the same as above as well.

The Newsroom (tv show)

20 August 2012 - 08:16 PM

Haya dudes.

Anybody else watch "The Newsroom"? I've been watching it since it started, and I'm really enjoying it both stylistically and politically. I don't agree necessarily with all the points being made, but I think it's really important that a lot of what's being said on the show is seen by people; namely problems with the political system, not ones with either party.

I do wish they'd be more even on the parties, as so far they've generally targeted republicans. Not that I think what they're saying about them is invalid, I just think there's plenty of ammo to shoot at both sides and I wish they would do so.

Anyway, your thoughts if you've watched it?

Here's the season 1 intro, which is pretty awesome imo.
