Krypton in Monogame [FX problems]

04 August 2014 - 05:55 AM

Hi Folkz, so I am working on porting Krypton to Monogame, I have (re)compiled the project using the Monogame DLL's over the XNA ones ad it WAS working (asin i could compile and run the project, but no lights would render)

However i know cannot compile the .fx file here[1] and i get the following Errors

i know there have been problems with Monogames Content pipeline where [//ColorWriteEnable = Red | Green | Blue;] line had to be omitted, but i have these commented out. This liiks like its complaining about the StencilEnable= False; Line.

has anyone successfully ported this Library or can help me out? Thanks.

Box2D Linker Woes

30 May 2014 - 04:21 AM

Hey Folkz,

Hoping someone can help me here. this should b fairly simple.

I am trying to look at C++ again, so am using SFML and Box2D to create a small game, easy. I have setup SFML and have a working program, but ... Box2D! i have looked at every page on Google on how to link the .lib into my project and have followed every step to the T and i still get:

Error	1	error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: __cdecl b2World::b2World(struct b2Vec2 const &)" (??0b2World@@QEAA@AEBUb2Vec2@@@Z) referenced in function "public: __cdecl PhysicsSystem::PhysicsSystem(struct b2Vec2)" (??0PhysicsSystem@@QEAA@Ub2Vec2@@@Z)	F:\Code\ShapeGames\ShapeGames\PhysicsSystem.obj	ShapeGames

Now, i know what the problem is, just not how to solve it.

I have added the Box2D Header to the Additional include Directories and Intelli-sense picks up the correct function definitions etc.

I have added the .lib's path to  to both Linker -> General and the Box2D.lib to Linker-> Input -> Additional Dependencies.

AFAIK, the linker is even picking up Box2D.lib because if i remove the files path from Linker -> general it tells me cannot find file. So it found the file, but isn't linking it? right? wrong? what have i missed? i have followed the tutorials linked below to the word :/

So, i have spent 3hrs on this now. Help me Obi-wan your my only hope.

UV Mapping and Custom Verticies

21 September 2013 - 01:09 PM

Hi hopefully a quick question,

I Have Hexagon i have rendered by creating verticies and inserting them into a vertex buffer, and indicies; it works fine.

However, how would i go around UV Mapping this? I can UV Map via blender, but im at a loss at what to search for when it comes to this.

Anyone got any Links / advice?

Multiplayer, the Internet and Lidgren

26 February 2013 - 10:41 AM

Hi smile.png

Quick question hopefully a quick answer. I am planning a game using XNA(or Monogame) i havent decided, but i want to to be networked, so i can play with friends over the internet. I Started this project about 3 days ago and so far almost have a working Framework on which to build a Game.

However, i have recently been lead to beleive while watching a Monogame Talk on youtube that its integration of Lidgren was Local network only :/

However i thought as Lidgren is TCP/UDP is would work fine over the internet aslong as the client was pointed towards the server, and i had some form of port forwarding setup on my network.

So really, can i do this? I dont really want to go much further on the game if this is impossible.

If i am right, i host the server on my machine and Get a client to connect, once i have forwarded the correct port. correct?

2D Arrays in C#

30 July 2011 - 04:47 PM

Hey there, hopefully a quickie.

I am trying to integrate someone elses library for the 'A* algortithm' into my project. He has a tutorial here on Youtube.

Now, my Question:

If i have a 2D array for e.g. TileNode[,] tileNodes;

If i want to get a node in that array, which of the following functions are correct?

public TileNode GetNode(int X, int Y)
        {
            return tileNodes[Y, X];
        }
or

public TileNode GetNode(int X, int Y)
        {
            return tileNodes[X, Y];
        }

i have always used the first ([Y,X] as it is essentially a matrix, however if you look at this guys code from the video (DL in video description) he always uses [X,Y] which, i assume only works for him becuase his grid is 250x250. if it we're 249x250 it would blow up, correct??

His example works really well, but when i use it in my project which uses [y,x] some of the nodes are 'mirrored' in the line 'Y= X' on the grid.
