[web] Books Recommendations

04 September 2006 - 10:44 AM

Hey, I've looked through the FAQ, Resources post and the Books review page on this site and didn't find books recommendations. I'm looking for books on how to structure your development, how to build and test a "major" website while having production code running (I'm currently using 2 accounts on a remote host, one for testing and one for production... I'm not sure if there's more efficient solutions), what are the pitfalls to avoid, maintainability, etc... I'm currently developping using PHP + MySQL and I'd be interested in switching to C# and ASP.NET since I'm planning on having my tools all coded in C#, but both PHP and ASP are valid solutions... Thanks Eric

City Road Graph

22 July 2005 - 03:00 PM

Hey, With sites like maps.google.com and mapquest.com and the like, I was wondering if there was a source where you could get for free (or cheap) graphs representing streets of well known cities? I'd like to model some sort of simulation of pedestrians and cars moving around huge cities and see how it would look... (a bit like GTA) I know I could procedurally create my own cities, but it would be a whole lot more fun to have it run in Montreal for example ;) Cheers Eric PS.: sorry if its in the wrong forum... I just didn't knew where to post that.. :)

PocketPC Game Engine

13 June 2005 - 04:03 PM

Hi, I'm pretty new to the Pocket PC development world... I've google'd a bit, but couldn't find any Pocket PC Game Engines... from what I could find, Pocket PCs run OpenGL ES? Are there any game engines that support it? the best would be an hybrid OpenGL on PC and ES on PPC. Thanks for your time Eric
