Text RPG - feedback wanted!

10 September 2012 - 02:09 PM

Hello,

I've made a small game here:
http://be-the-hero.net

It's kind of a wiki-like text adventure, where anyone can edit/expand the story.

I would be very interested to know how you would like to see it evolve.
Is there a feature where you would say "damn, this would be so cool!" ?

Thanks!
Arnaud

PS: if someone feels inspired to help, you are welcome! Drop me a note ;)

Hello,

I would like to have some feedback on this early draft.
It is a pure text adventure, a bit like the old gamebooks, but that everyone can edit.

What do you think of it?
Is it easy/intuitive enough?
Would you enjoy it?

Poll: best title for a text rpg?

Hello,

Please take 2 seconds of your time to vote!

I'm looking for a good title for an old school "text adventure" ...stuff where you read text and have to select what you are gonna do and see the story unfold. A bit like old gamebooks.
The only twist is that anyone can edit the story/options, like a wiki.

Do you remember gamebooks (books where you are the hero and jump from page to page)?

Hello,

Do you remember the good old times with books like:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fighting_Fantasy

Well, I wondered what you would think about bringing this idea to the web ...community fashion.
That you open your browser and see a small text, and have to click on links to make choices and influence how the story unfolds.
The whole could be improved by adding some artwork and a simplistic battle system.

Lastly, since most of the work involved is actually writing the story and providing artwork, perhaps we could let the "community" itself let the "book" expand and improve. A bit like in a wiki where you add links and edit text, letting anyone contribute.

What do you think?
...I personally think it would be fun to play.
The trickier question is whether people would be willing to contribute by improving/expanding the story without degenerating in low quality crap.

Cheers

So what's your RPG story?

Hello,

These days, many aspiring game developers seem wanting to make RPGs or MMORPGs.
...which all need an inspiring story.

So, out of curiosity, what is yours?
What great story do you have in mind?

When you post, please insert a synopsis in quotes and more details after if you wish to do so.

Cheers!
