Text Based Mafia Game (PHP) - Need Help

01 May 2012 - 08:39 PM

Hello everyone!

I recently got a Mafia Game Script from a friend. My programming skills in PHP are not so great, but I want to launch this game still! If I can get together a team together, we can start this game up, and hopefully it becomes something amazing!

Now here are the answers to the numerous questions I know are going to be asked:

1) Will this be paying?

- At the moment, I am unable to pay anyone. If that makes you not want to join, then I understand. The game script has things that allow players to purchase in-game items. As we generate some revenue, I will begin splitting the pay up.

2) Who all do I need?

- I need 1-2 PHP programmers, who are willing to clean up the game code, edit/add features, and help me keep the game running smoothly. Programmers will be the first to receive a cut of the profits made from the game.

- I also need a graphic designer who is interested in helping with the game logos and colors. This person will also receive a cut of the profits made from the game.

- Admins/Mods are needed as well. Chances are anyone who helps with the game will ultimately become admins and/or mods.

3) When will the project start?

- As soon as I can find at least one programmer who is willing to help me ensure the code is functioning, and make sure all of the game features are working properly. Once this happens, I will work with the programmer to get the game online, so we can start getting players.

4) Goal of this project?

- To create a mafia game and get players to come and play. As time goes by, players will most likely purchase in-game features, and that's when we all start making some money. Donations as well as advertising are also ideas.

If you have any more questions, please contact me either on here via PM or email me at mdixonjr13@gmail.com

I'm looking forward to hearing for you, and I hope to have you on the team!

(P.S. Currently the game name is TBD)

[web] Mafia Game Project - Volunteers Needed

03 August 2011 - 09:14 PM

Due to my lack of knowledge of PHP (although I am decent at the language), I am looking for PHP programmers that can help create a text based mafia game. I already have the ideas typed out, and one coder that is helping me out. I already have a .co.cc domain name (for the time being. of course I will get an official domain name when the game is running), and I already have the web site host.

Since I bought the hosting, I do not have money to pay programmers who join the project. But, since I don't know much about PHP programming, I am only keeping a small percentage of the profits, and letting the programmers keep most of the profits. I, myself, will be handling things like getting us on the voting sites (for users to vote for the game, so we can become more popular), setting up paypal (so we can receive profits from the game, and I will be sending the cash to everyone else from that account), and advertising (advertising on other sites, and possible outside advertising on our site). I will also be creating banners, and other images for the game.

With that said, we are still looking for PHP programmers to help with the project. If anyone is interested, let me know, and I will send you an email with more information (game ideas, profit split, etc.). I will also forward you to the head coder of the project, and he will talk to you as well.

If anyone is interested in donating their time or has any questions, please send me a private message, and I will contact you.

Thank you for your interest, and I hope to hear from some of you.

(P.S. if there are any designers that would like to contribute by making images, backgrounds, etc. We are more than happy to have your help. You will also get a split of the profits made from the game.)

C++ Game Programming Beginner Help

27 July 2011 - 01:52 PM

Hello everyone, I am learning C++ (reading books right now), and I will be going to school majoring in Computer Science, to learn more programming, but at the moment, I want to make a small basic game in C++.

I've looked around, and I heard isometric games are the easiest to start off with, so I think I want to take that approach (unless it isn't the easiest to start with). Now I am having trouble finding an engine that is "beginner friendly", and I can use to create my first game. I was looking around, and I couldn't find any isometric game engines, that are free. As a beginner, I don't want to pay for a game engine, since I don't know a lot about C++ yet.

Again, I am reading books, and tutorials to help increase my C++ knowledge, but I do want to make a small free game, that I can share online, and stuff like that. It's my first game, so I don't plan on making any money from the game.

Anyways... If anyone can offer some knowledge on what engine I should use, then please inform me. Also, if there are any source codes I can learn from, then please tell me about those as well. And if anyone knows where I can find some pixel assets, or game assets (characters, objects, etc.) for free, please tell me.

Game Development HTML5

14 July 2011 - 12:04 AM

Hello everyone, I am interested in making a game in HTML5, but I don't know of any game engines that would help. I heard of ImpactJS but I don't have the money to by that just yet. Are there any others that I can be pointed to? I am thinking of making an Isometric strategy game if that helps any.

[web] PHP Text Based Game

13 July 2011 - 06:46 PM

I have been working with people, adding on to their php game scripts, but now I think its time to make my own. I have a few ideas, but I am not a fully fluent php programmer. I was wondering if anyone could possibly help me by telling me of any php game tutorials, or something. Also if anyone is interested in the project and would like to do the art end (backgrounds, banners, etc.) Let me know as well. Thank you.
