Learning Javascript

21 March 2013 - 09:48 AM

I actually want to be a game director/designer in the future but couldn't wait to create a game.So I got Unity3D and now I'm stuck with the programming aspects.I want to learn Javascript for the scripting but so far I haven't found any tutorial video on youtube that I can understand.I have ZERO knowledge about programming.I want to ask you guys to perhaps to show me some good tutorials on learning Javascript for someone like me.

Getting re-start

15 March 2013 - 03:13 PM

Couple of months ago I made a thread about wanting to learn programming. And I admit,I'm a slow learner with this thing.I've only learned about 50% of HTML.That's it.When I was learning programming,I freaked out because of how hard things are and I basically gave up.Thankfully I got my motivation again. Now here's my problem.I want to be a game director in the future. And I couldn't wait to start making prototypes. And the whole reason I want to learn programming is for creating Scripts in Unity3d.I guess I got too ambitious to start making game and start off with Unity3d because the type of game I want to make is 2.5D action-platformer game. But now I'm willing to start learning with simpler software like GameMaker.I need help from you guys, what should I actually do,use, and learn from?

So how do I start learning programming?

First of all you need to know I have ZERO knowledge about programming. Then someone told me I need to learn Javascript to make games. After a few minutes roaming the internet I'm stuck.I have few questions:

1.Is javascript the most basic scripting language?

2.Do I need to learn HTML first or should I just start with Javascript

3.Where is the best sites to learn them?

4.Does learning Javascript is enough to make games?Programming wise, that is.

BEGINNER turorial for Unity3d

So I tried to learn from TornadoTwins(making video game from scratch) but it didn't help.It still felt like it's not noob-friendly enough. The only thing I learned is creating objects. My aim is to make 2d sidescrolling a la Megaman X.I need good tutorial for making that kind of game and all the necessary basic knowledge.I have no idea about programming.Like,I have no idea how to use javascript .

What should I learn?
