Check out Dream Catcher

So it's a dodging game, you have to keep dodging enemies for as long as you can. As you play you'll be able to get power ups and also be able to kill opponents.

Here is an slightly old screen of the game.

You can't buy anything that needs coins right now.

UPDATE EDIT
Anyways, many people don't have Java 1.7 yet, so I put up a link for Java 1.6 too, since most people are likely to have that!
Fixed link for Java 1.6, download this one!!
Download link for Java 1.7, if you have it!
-------------

I'll probably release this on the Android Market soon. But do you guys think it's a good game? I know it probably feels like there isn't a lot of content.

Do you guys think it's a good idea to put some more effort in to this game, like creating some different missions, with slightly different objectives?
Do you think the idea itself is too simple and flawed? That I should just move on and go make something better and more innovative?

Have you any other type of feedback?

Some pixelart feedback

16 November 2011 - 06:18 PM

So I'm trying to do some pixel art for a solo project I'm working on.

Can you guys give me some general feedback? Here is a recent sprite I made for an ally:

So, any tips or general feedback? Some pointers on how to improve or a specific style to go for?

Many thanks!

Game programming and Design for Beginners

14 November 2011 - 12:13 PM

So I've written a bunch of posts in my blog targeted specifically at beginners and I've come to share some with you!

A general post about Game programming!

Getting started with Android

What is Ludum Dare? - I think that Ludum Dare is a great competition and that everyone should participate, regardless of skill level.

Make a Game Series - step by step guide in to the entire game creation process using libGDX. Still in progress!

Criticism, suggestions and requests are open! :D This is about learning, for me!

I hope to see everyone at Ludum Dare in December!

Story for Educational RPGs

02 November 2011 - 05:26 PM

I'm actually busy with some other projects, but still, I want to discuss this.

For my next game, I want to create learning games about a certain subject with turn-based, RPG-like, battle system.

However, I'm stuck in creating a plot for it. I mean, where should I take it?

I was thinking about something happening in the real world ( the hero failing an exam about the subject, for example ), and then, because of a fantastic element, he gets stuck in a fantasy world where skill in that Subject is used in battles against monsters, and basically he has to escape. He's a school kid.

But then, what? At first I was thinking about you only visiting the fantasy world through nightmares, and in the fantasy world maybe you could interact different versions of the real world people, but I can't really get a complex plot going in my head, to make some use of the real world. But maybe, it shouldn't be complex, I guess I just have a knack for complex plots. I also have a knack for anti-heroes... But it would be kinda hard to fit here, maybe.

Any thoughts on this?

Prioritizing in game design ideas

30 September 2011 - 07:21 PM

I'm not sure if I'm in the right category, but let's go:I made a card game and put it up on Android Market. I program, I write and I draw for the game, basically. So I've released it for free to get a feel of the market.

I didn't manage to get much of a feeling...

Anyways, I want to expand the game to make a paid version available before the end of October, and I want to know what you guys think I should prioritize:

Right now the game has a intricate story mode with a some card battles in-between and a free match mode.
I was thinking about making more of the story(like doubling it) and putting that plus in the story as the paid content. Of course, I have no idea if people even care about the plot in my game.
Other than that I could add some achievements, a mode where you face players in succession or a way to customize your options in the game(don't wanna add customization right now, since it may take too long).

Anyways, here is the link to the game, if you have Android: Game Link to the Android Market! There are screenshots there and stuff, and a game description.

Tell me what you guys think!
