Framework Question & Advice!

23 May 2013 - 01:29 AM

I just have a simple question regarding frameworks that is compatible to a text based game as I displayed in attachments (as examples) for a game I am developing that has very somewhat similar qualities. My colleague is the main programmer on the project at the moment (which is quite large in scale) but we became stuck on the MVC Robot-legs framework but apparently it didn't adjust too well but he did suggest possibly using Entity but he as an I am not sure whether or not Entity would be compatible that type of game I have in mind so anyone that is familiar with Entity or any other framework that would adjust as well (that could help organize the coding) please reply back and to add the game will be using Flash.

Thank You much appreciated.

Suggested Framework For Text-Based Game

17 May 2013 - 01:39 AM

I recently tried to used MVC for a text based game. However, it appeared to me, that it became much complex to handle it when it grows bigger. The biggest problem i had been facing was the number of validations it requires on each step. That generates convoluted code algorithms, badly nested if-else conditions and ultimately lot of bugs in the logic.

I want some suggestion, on this, if there is some available framework that can help coding text based games in a better organized way?

Was looking into using Entity but unsure whether that would work well for a game of this kind that could be ported to any platform. Any replies will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Programming Ideas

Just a question anyone knows what kind of programming could be used to make a simple mogul simulation type game (ala, Hollywood Mogul, TV Station Manager or Football Manager). A text game with graphics.

Question about Programming for Game

26 October 2011 - 03:24 PM

I have an interest on designing a simple simulation business/mogul type game, something simular to games like Hollywood Mogul, Football Manager or sandbox kind of games. Text game with graphics (example: A GUI Interface options where players can make decisions based off the choices they choose from more simular to Hollywood Mogul if anyone is familiar with that game). My question to people here I was looking into both Java and Visual Basic/Studio because from what people say its an easier language to use particulary for a type of simple game I am looking into making. So if anyone can give me some heads up on what programming I should use or try out for a type of game I am interested in building please hit me up. Thanks.
