Standalone Programs

22 March 2014 - 11:18 PM

Hello, I was wondering how well Python works for stand alone applications because I know it's an interpretated language. If it works well, can someone recommend a good IDE? And if not what would be a good beginner language to learn to make stand alone apps?

Gamemaker,RPGmaker, etc.

27 September 2013 - 03:56 PM

I've got a small team of friends together and I have a working knowledge of how to develop a game. My question has to do with what programs would be good for our project. I've taken a look at Game maker and RPG maker but they both require you to purchase them in order to do anything significant. Does anyone know of a similar program that can be used for free to develop a 2-D isometric view game? It should be beginner friendly and fairly easy to use. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Roleplaying Sites

04 January 2013 - 06:45 PM

Are there some really good community driven roleplaying sites out there? I'm really looking for one, so I'll definitely check out any recommendations. Any mmorpgs that have a strong roleplaying community are good too.

Develop or not to develop

13 December 2012 - 07:11 PM

I'm still in high school but I have this great idea for a game and I have some knowladge of game development. I'm trying to learn some programming so I have a little experiance with that as well. Should I try to get a team together to develop the game or focus on school and learning some C++? I definately have the skills and resources to do either but I want some advice.

Help with C++

I'm trying to make a program where you can make a list then manipulate it in several ways. I have this code so far and I'm wondering why the if statements arn't working correctly. When I type create it displays the correct text. Then when I type in an item to be added it just displays the list and then the text again.

//Listing Program
//Add,remove,shuffle and search for items in a user created list
#include <iostream>
#include <vector>
#include <string>
using namespace std;
int main()
vector<string> list;
vector<string>::iterator iter;
string choice;
string item;
string exit;
cout<< "Welcome to the list making program." <<endl;
cout<< "Type:"<<endl;
cout<< "create to make a list (Do this first)" <<endl;
cout<< "add to add an item to an existing list" <<endl;
cout<< "delete to remove an item from the list" <<endl;
cout<< "shuffle to shuffle the list" <<endl;
cout<< "search to search for an item on the list" <<endl;
cout<< "display to show the current list" <<endl;
cout<< "quit to close the program" <<endl;

cin>> choice;
while(choice!= "quit")
if(choice == "create" )
cout<< "Press enter after each item, type done to display the list and exit creation." <<endl;
cin>> item;
if(item == "done")
for (iter= list.begin(); iter!= list.end(); ++iter)
cout<< *iter <<endl;
return 0;
