Topics I've Started

Logic Pro X

17 July 2013 - 10:39 AM

So, three months after getting a new computer and finally upgrading to Logic Pro 9, Apple pulls a surprise move and out of the blue releases Logic Pro X.  I've been looking for this to come out for a while, and after holding out forever and finally giving up three months too early, I don't know what to think.

Anyway, for any of you who have taken the plunge I'd like to know what you think.  One thing that I'm very interested in is the new score editor.  Since upgrading to my new computer my older version of Sibeilus hasn't worked and I've held off on updating it for now.  I never liked the score editor in Logic and I'm hoping the new improvements will be good enough so that I don't have to upgrade my Sibelius.

So what do you guys thing of the new Logic?

Attending GDC

25 January 2013 - 12:56 PM

So...I've decided to take the plunge and attend GDC this year.  I have business that'll put me in the area so it works out very conveniently.  However, at the moment I can only afford to purchase the Expo Pass.  Being that this is rather limiting, I'm wonder what opportunities I'll have to network and, more importantly, learn and grow.  Also, with just the Expo pass is it worth it to attend the whole Wed-Fri or just one or two days?  Again, thanks to all of you for your help and expertise.  I'm jumping into this career with a love of music and games and minimal knowledge on the business side, learning everything as I go along.  Your help here has been invaluable!

I also just want to add that I've posted this in this section because I'm attending as a composer, and am looking for advise from the perspective of a composer.

"You're Not Alone" Cover

23 January 2013 - 11:01 PM

A little while ago I finished an orchestral cover for FF IX's "You're Not Alone".  This is by far my favorite video game track and I thoroughly enjoyed making this cover.  I just realized I hadn't shared this here so here it is!

Non Disclosure Agreement

30 October 2012 - 01:27 PM

I've recently run into something that I'd like a little advice on. Yesterday I found a listing for a developer looking for a team to create a game, including a composer, but would not release any information at all about the game. I emailed him asking for more information and sent him my portfolio. He replied stating that he would not release any info about the game at all until I signed a non disclosure agreement. I didn't mind that, so after reading the 5 page document I filled it out and signed it, giving only my city and state for my address. I am very careful about who I give my personal information to, especially my address, and am not willing to simply hand it out unless I know I can trust said person. Anyway, the agreement was kicked back to me with the developer stating he needs my full address for legal reasons.

I understand the importance of non disclosure, but I wanted to ask if it's standard practice in game development for all parties to sign an agreement such as this before any information at all is released.

Sharing my Portfolio

25 September 2012 - 02:35 PM

I've been active here the last few weeks and took the liberty of sharing my portfolio in my first thread while at the same time asking a question about licensing my music. I realized quickly that mistake because my portfolio got lost in the shuffle of the main topic of the thread, so I've decided to make another dedicated to my portfolio.

Let me know what you think and what could use some improvement. I'm always looking for ways to further my work!
