Where to go now?

18 August 2012 - 05:17 PM

Hello Everyone,
I have taken the time to learn as much as I can about c++ from reading books, watching and reading tutorials online, and some. I think I've gotten basics down but now I don't know where to go to learn about serous game programming. Everywhere I go they just want to re-teach me all the console programs that I already know. I even took the time to learn very basic Blender for 3D modeling.

I don't know how to put all of this into 3D (or even 2D) programming for a game. So where do I go now to use everything that I've learned? I've even thought about learning something like Java or Python if it would be easier to get into deeper level stuff besides basic console commands that seem useless overall. I have artwork for a 2D game, ideas for a 2D game, help to make the 2D game, but don't know how to program the game.

Where should I go to learn about video game programming in any language you feel would be best (books/websites) (I have background knowledge in C++)
