#5264065 MyClass myClass VS myClass = new MyClass()

Posted by on 29 November 2015 - 02:54 AM

in my idea, if you want to use new to allocate dynamic memory, it is best to work with smart pointers, because if you forgot to delete the class, you might ran into memory leeks

but please note that shared_ptr, unique_ptr, weak_ptr and auto_ptr are different

and, i agree with juleian in post #2

but please note that both stack and heep are limited

if you want to get more stack space, you would need to use multi threading

every function needs to be in it's own thread

but as others have said, it depends on situation to use stack or heep

#5257178 c++ code not working

Posted by on 14 October 2015 - 01:35 AM

as people have said, don't use bloodshed dev-C++

it hasn't been updated for years

use code::blocks or orwell dev-C++ instead

they have MinGW compiler v4

or if you want to use version 5 of MinGW, install MinGW-w64 and tell it's path to your ide

Dev-C++, Visual Studio and Code::Blocks are IDEs, but GCC or MSVC are compilers

and, please paste all of your errors here, then we can know what is your problem and we can tell you how to fix it

I recommend to use C++ for developing this game or make a game engine and use your engine to develop your game

it depend's on that you want to make a component that use's C++ or software that make's games

i explain boath of them:

in this case, you have to use some librarys for sounds, image loading/saving, physics, math, AI, and more that you need

then write code depend on them

then compile them as static or shared library

in this case, you must have a component, and a scripting library like angelscript or python or lua

then, register the functions and classes for it and compile it as a executable

then, write a script for your software and see it work's or not
