If you have a list then no resizing vector.
You dont wanto compare 500 texture name strings ?, is that it ?, or maybe id numbers ?, cant do without.

What is a vector in this case ?, dont you have a list ?, its advanced memory managment, search for list!

It doesnt realy matters for small stuff, big stuff you Always write blocks if you can anyways.
I think you dont notice the difference with 1 write to disk, or more writes to disk.

The background should have nothing todo with the sprite drawing,
something must be wrong in your code, rewrite it, i,m sure you will find it when you get on top of things.
