Journals sorted by first draft date, not first pulished

18 January 2014 - 06:01 PM

Simple repro; create a new journal entry - save as draft - wait a couple of days and then edit/publish. It appears in the listing with the first DRAFT date, not the first PUBLISH date. Until publish, only I can see the entry (or so I believe...?)

As a blogger accustomed to systems like Wordpress, etc, I'd expect the entry to appear with the first published date as the sort date, not the draft date. Naturally, subsequent edits after publish shouldn't modify this date and preserve the original publish date to prevent abuse.

Make site menus touch aware

30 March 2013 - 05:39 AM

Like many people these days, I do the majority of my browsing via a touch screen device on the full fat version of the site. However, I have the issue that the top menus aren't optimised for touch, instead they rely on mouseover events. I find myself constantly being unable to get where I want to be on the site because I can't use the menu properly on my device.

The ideal menu would be like how Facebook does it on touch devices - a tap to drop it down, then a tap to select your item. It'd be great if we could add something similar.

GDNet on iPhone

28 February 2010 - 10:10 AM

Is anyone else having trouble using the main site on the in-built Safari browser on iPhone/iPod touch? Most of the site works aside from the drop down menus - any idea if there's a fix planned?

Pay it forward: Game Coding Complete 2nd Edition

03 February 2010 - 12:53 AM

Does anyone in the UK need Game Coding Complete, 2nd Edition by Mike McShaffry? I've just upgraded to the third edition and as an act of pure kindness to a GDNetter I will give away the 2nd edition to anyone willing to pay postage and packing. It'd be cheaper to go to the UK, but I'd post abroad if you can afford the postage (it's unlikely to be cost effective, though). Let me know.

GTA Chinatown Wars: iPhone

18 January 2010 - 10:19 AM

I was pretty much taken by surprise with this, but Rockstar have release GTA Chinatown wars on the iPhone/iPod Touch. It's going for US$9.99/GBP £5.99 - compared to the PSP and DS versions this is really cheap. Haven't played GTA:CW before, so far I like it - but I do find the touch controls a little annoying, I suppose I'll get used to them. The graphics are pretty much some of the best I've seen on the iPhone - a review I saw says they're between the PSP and DS versions, which is interesting. Has anyone played it yet? If so, what's your verdict?
