Continue to expand my skills in the multiplayer/social game development field. Apply my 20+ years of senior IT experience and skills to managing a succesful social gaming project from indie development through to commercial production.
Resource Management: My day job is managing teams of IT resources for a large Oil and Gas company. I work with teams of experts every day to solution problems, address incidents and accomplish tasks to meet production goals. I bring these skills to the projects I work with and work hard to provide as much input and solutioning to the challenges of game development as I demand from others.
3D Modelling: Not my primary skillset. I can work with most entry level modelling applications (Milkshape as an example) and have produced literally hundreds of custom 3D assets from mesh development, including all LoD layers, all the way to skin creation and wrapping.
Scripting / Coding: During the last 8 years of amateur game development I have learned several scripting languages through to a very advanced level. I have written 10s of thousands of lines of C++ code but I still consider myself very novice at it and it is something I would prefer to leave to the real pros.
Database Development: I have worked with all levels of database structural design and implementation including text based flatfiles, MySQL and Oracle. 80% or more of my actual production experience is with MySQL database structuring and querry optimization.
Technical writting: For the last 3 years I lead a team of technical writters working to document all of the IT controls and processes for a very large corporate company. (We supported over 12,000 concurrent users on our systems.) I bring the year sof experience and professional skillsets of documentation and process development to the gaming projects I work on.
Game Development Experience:
Everquest - pre-beta client testing working with Verant Entertainment (prior to it becoming 989 studios and then eventually bought by SoE). Mostly this testing involved zone development and dev team feedback for continous improvement.
Dark Age of Camelot - Combat testing. Working directly with the developers to test new itterations of the combat formulas. (Basically hours and hours of spreadsheet development based off combat logs)
