In Topic: Buying Visual Studio Pro 2012 - With or without MSDN subscription?

13 May 2013 - 03:25 PM

It dépends on subscription levels but mostly it gives you access to almost all server software from Microsoft, so usefull for testing (not for production, except a few Tools that can be included).

So it's basically visual studio + all OSes for testing + almost all software for testing, so if you develop software you want to test on say win2K8 with sql server 2008 & win2K12 with sql server 2012 and SharePoint, that's the use of MSDN!

In Topic: Programming and depression research

My answer is 0 for everything except:

4 => 1

11 => 1

13 =>1

14 => 2 (this is an ambiguous question, as 1 isn't lower than 2, i'm young so feeling old is simply unfit, also the question doesn't seem to relate to self esteem as i think it is intended, my answer is closer to "there are permanent negative changes to my appearance, but i don't care at all")

15 => 1

19 => 3 (i'm surprised by this one, is this relating to anorexia? i have lost weight but i needed to, i think the question should be rephrased as "if you were of a normal weight 6 month ago, did you lose weight since?". Also depression can work both ways, you can gain weight as part of depression)

20 => 1

This would put me at 10, however if i had to self rate / interpret the questions i'd count 19 & 14 as 0 putting me at 6

I program 20 to 60 hours a week or so.

In Topic: Browsers @_@'

On my PC, IE launches just as quick as chrome or firefox, and i too feel that 1 second is an eternity, but i don't get that second on my IE.

Modern IE slow launches are usually not IE but plugins loaded at startup, disable em.

they yell at me saying its so much faster, really people believe that? even if it is faster, people explain its noticeably faster.

I just did a quick test,
[searching on google] can cats fly - IE 10: 0.20s Chrome: 0.19s

a whole .01 of a second (but bare in mind I have a few more pug ins on IE

Do they mean that it fetches search results faster?
On my PC, when I launch chrome, the window appears instantaneously (a fraction of a second). When I launch IE, it takes several seconds to appear and make itself ready, which feels like an eternity now ;P
