[iOS] Toy Plane™ is now FREE this weekend!

Toy Plane, a one-touch physics-based flyer for iOS, is FREE this weekend! Don't be fooled by the charming graphics, this game can be quite challenging to master.

Capturing Win32 Mouse Repeat Events

27 April 2013 - 06:53 PM

Is it possible to receive WM_LBUTTONDOWN auto repeat events similar to WM_KEYDOWN with the standard repeat delay?

I'm working on a GUI, and would like to mimic scrollbars and repeat buttons much like the widgets in a C# WinForms application.  I was hoping this would be possible without implementing a custom timer and handling it manually.

Running your OpenGL program on an Nvidia-Optimus enabled laptop

18 September 2012 - 03:20 PM

Running my OpenGL 4.0 programs on my laptop (using nvidia-optimus technology), always defaults to the integrated Intel graphics chip, instead of the dedicated Nvidia GTX 660M that's included. This results in my program failing to initialize because the Intel chip only supports OpenGL 1.4.

Is there anyway to tell the system which graphics card to use without manually setting up a profile for the application? I'd rather not disable optimus altogether, so I can still gain the benefits of power savings while not running high-end applications. How do commercial games handle this?

STL Map problems with .NET compiler

02 July 2004 - 04:36 PM

I currently have a custom class with an STL map as a class member. An example would look like this and it compiles fine with VC++ 6.0:
template <class KEY, class DATA>
class foo
{
public:
	typedef std::map<KEY,DATA> fooMap;
	typedef fooMap::iterator fooMapItor;

	fooMap m;
	fooMapItor i;
};
As you can see this simple class is templated, and I pass the templated paramters directly into the STL Map for its template. However, this won't compile on the VC .NET compiler.
Quote:
c:\Documents and Settings\brandste\Desktop\sample\main.cpp(40): error C2146: syntax error : missing ';' before identifier 'fooMapItor' c:\Documents and Settings\brandste\Desktop\sample\main.cpp(43): error C2146: syntax error : missing ';' before identifier 'i' c:\Documents and Settings\brandste\Desktop\sample\main.cpp(40): error C2501: 'foo<KEY,DATA>::fooMapItor' : missing storage-class or type specifiers c:\Documents and Settings\brandste\Desktop\sample\main.cpp(43): error C2501: 'foo<KEY,DATA>::fooMapItor' : missing storage-class or type specifiers c:\Documents and Settings\brandste\Desktop\sample\main.cpp(43): error C2501: 'foo<KEY,DATA>::i' : missing storage-class or type specifiers
After narrowing down the problem, I found that the problem is when declaring the map iterator. Does anyone know why this is a compiler error? This compiles fine with VC++ 6.0. Is there a correct way I can do this so both compilers will be happy? Thanks for any help :)
