Article Editor Eats Tags?

05 May 2013 - 02:07 PM

The article editor seems to randomly deleting the opening HTML tags in when I save an article draft. I can't tell if there's any pattern, it just leave the closing tags behind so I'll have bold text left like this:

Important Paragraph</b>

instead of:

Important Paragraph

It only seems to be doing it to headings, bold, and <ul>. Any ideas?

Most Confusing Art Techniques?

17 March 2013 - 01:47 AM

Hey guys, I'm in the process of finishing an article about art techniques every 2D artist should be aware of aimed specifically at non-artists, i.e. programmers who sometimes make their own art. My question is to all you non-artists out there: What are the most confusing art techniques to you? Why?

What in particular strikes you as being difficult in drawing or creating 2D assets? What techniques do you see people using that are beyond your comprehension?

So far I'm addressing the following issues in my article (feedback appreciated on these as well):

  • Form/Shape
  • Perspective
  • Contrast/Depth
  • Shading/Lighting
  • Color
  • Anatomy/Proportions
  • Animation

For this one I'm not really focusing on software ("what is the best software????!!") or technical particulars, those are hopefully things that will be addressed in future articles.

Navigation to Articles Awkward

10 December 2012 - 09:28 PM

I was trying to get to the article archive, but apparently there's not a link in the navigation tabs, unless I'm missing something.. Soo... could there be a link in the navigation tab maybe? Seems awkward that the only way to get to it is through the Home-> Latest Articles thing as far as I can tell.

A Slight Malfunction (story with piktarz)

14 August 2010 - 12:11 PM

Some days, things just don't go your way. Tuesday after work I walk to the parking lot...

The rear passenger door of my Honda Fit

You can barely see it, but the in-door speaker is obliterated

The obvious solution to this mystery is not the correct one...

Well, I give up for now, and decide to just get home. I double check my backpack I threw in the passenger seat to make sure I have my coffee cup...

In that moment, I realized I was both stupid and unlucky.

See, I recently moved to Denver, Co and had brought a canned of compressed air up to clean my stuff after visiting New Mexico. Being lazy, I unpacked all the big things, but left that can in the cup holder in the door.

It was in there for a little more than a week, all the while heating in the sun and cooling at night, weakening the aluminum and pissing off the air inside (presumably).

You can't really see it, but the bottom the can is domed outward. It actually looks like it has little tabs etched in to blow out if the pressures get too high... but they failed. The amazing thing is that the main part of the can flew up and broke a handle on the front passenger seat and leaving a little tear in the ceiling material before falling into the seat.

The lesson is: read the warning label, and then do what it says...
