Quantum Trapping/Locking

18 October 2011 - 01:55 PM

So I saw this today:

Cool magnet shiznit

You guys are the smartest people I know, I can't find an explanation on how this works, only scientific papers I don't understand. Can someone break it down for the laypeople?

It seems like the magnetic field is both simultaneously attracting and repelling the object with the same force.

Battlefield 3 Beta

03 October 2011 - 05:58 PM

Official BF3 thread?

I don't like how you have to run the game from a browser and can't change settings unless you're actually in the game. Also, having to install Origin, plus a browser plug-in, even if you buy the retail copy bugs me.

What I don't understand is why they are beta'ing an infantry only map? It makes it seem more like a MW knockoff than a sequel to BF2.

That being said, my thoughts on the game itself are generally positive. I like how the buildings blow up. I like the unlock system. The gameplay itself is top notch.

My Origin ID is ChurchSkiz if anyone wants to friend me, post your ID if you're playing the beta.

Searching "My Content" By Thumbs Up

04 June 2011 - 04:46 AM

Supposedly the new interface is to allow people to rate up specific content. My problem is I don't know what people are rating up. My reputation has been mysteriously rising but I can't see what specific posts it is tied to. I think I should be able to search my posts by content rating or have it as a sortable criteria.

Rubix Cubes

01 June 2011 - 07:16 AM

So I was watching another Rubix cube video and I was thinking to myself, "Ok this is getting old, people are pretty awesome at it, not much left to do." And I was thinking of a variant of Rubix cubing that might be a lot more challenging. Hand someone a solved Rubix cube (or I guess it could be messed up too), and show them a picture of a cube with a specific pattern on it (ie RGB, WBR, YYW) for every side, and then have them work to get that specific pattern. Reverse Rubix Cubing.

What do you think?

US Budget - an analogy

17 April 2011 - 05:53 PM

I was curious what the real impact of our budget and the proposed cuts would have, so I did a little mathery:

If the US government was a family making $100k a year:

1. It would have $402k in unsecured debt (credit cards, not auto loans or mortgages)
2. It would go $42k more in debt by the end of the year - $3,500 a month .
3. The budget cuts it is proposing would amount to $1,446 or $120 a month

$120 a month is the equivalent of not ordering a starbucks latte every day or turning off cable.

Somebody call Suzie Orman on the US.
