Broken avatar or No avatar?

23 August 2015 - 10:37 AM

I've noticed a lot of users have a "broken avatar" image (see attached). Is that what we see when someone simply doesn't upload an avatar image? If so, I suggest we have a blank silhouette or something show up instead.

Is your topic really about Game Design?

09 March 2015 - 12:32 PM

Seems like everybody wants to post everything in Game Design, as if it was a board for general discussions for anything related to game development.

Well, it's not. Game Design is a specific focus. Not everything is Game Design! Think before you post, please, about where your question would be best asked.

Any technical questions are probably better suited to the For Beginners forum.
Any business or marketing questions are better suited for the Business/Law forum.
Questions about the legality of copying someone's IP should not be asked in the Business/Law forum until after you've read the FAQ there.
Graphics-related questions are better suited for the Visual Arts forum.
Job-related questions are better suited for the Game Industry Job Advice forum.
Story questions, or what you should name your characters or your game, are better suited for the Writing forum.
General topics are better suited for the Lounge.
Recruiting posts and job seeking posts are prohibited in the discussion forums - use the Classifieds instead.
If you want to tout your game, post your announcement in Your Announcements.

Need "education war" topic tag

24 March 2014 - 07:28 AM

We have a "language war" tag for the frequent, um, "lively discussions" around the "what's the best language" topic. Over in the Job Advice forum, the, er, "lively discussions" we get every now and then are about the question of whether or not college/university is recommended. I think it would be good if those could be tagged with an "education war" badge.

Please read the FAQs before you post for the first time -->

03 January 2014 - 10:05 AM

Please back out to the forum's main page. You'll find a link to the FAQs in the green "getting started" box to the right side of your screen.

Thanks, and good luck!

For those unable to see the Getting Started / FAQ section on the forum main page, here's the direct link to the FAQ: http://www.gamedev.net/page/reference/faq.php/_/for-beginners-r1
