In Topic: Page loading slowly due to unreachable banner graphic(?)

Hello. I do not know if it is related but accessing the screenshot showdown page (http://www.gamedev.net/page/showdown/browse.html?view=top_week) is really slow since a few days. It took me nearly 3 minutes to get it loaded. It is the same when loading a forum page with the IOTD at its side like http://www.gamedev.net/forum/4-gdnet-comments-suggestions-and-ideas/ or the page of a screenshot like http://www.gamedev.net/page/showdown/view.html/_/jettoast-r142564. The other pages of the site are loading without problem.

In Topic: Fire ideas in games

I started thinking of a game involving fire a few months ago. It did not went far but here is what I came up with:
- RTS or turn based game,
- Water and Fire elementals fighting for land/cities,
- various powers of units with potential evolutions,
- Water units can accumulate water in some places, act in prevention spreading water on objects (and with Ice evolution), they are more defensive units,
- Fire units can explode, jump to reach protected places, they are more offensive,

- main environment as a uniform grid of material information,
- dynamic objects as point with an effect range,
- material information is: potential power, current resistance, combustion temperature, combustion rate, current temperature, temperature transmit rate,
- each cell and point objects are updating taking into account the neighbour cells (or within a range maybe) and point objects in range,
- a cell/object can receive/transmit a certain amount of temperature to the neighbours,
- the temperature of a cell/object is increased with the relation combustion rate * time * potential power,
- the current resistance is decreased accordingly,
- when no more resistance, object is destroyed or no more combustion can occur,
- fire sources can have infinite power,
- explosives can be represented as powerful objects with a really high combustion rate so they generate a very high temperature in a very short period and destroy themselves very quickly,
- materials can protect from temperature with a temperature transmit rate < 1.

It is very rough as I did not work on it a lot but I think there is something to do with this...

Why: there is a story, smooth animation, great graphism, some challenging parts
