Obligatory Intro

When I was about 7 years old I watched Commando, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, nearly every day after school for about a half year. During every rewind and after every viewing  I would pretend to be an action movie hero like Arnold running through my house, and the woods behind my house, with imaginary weapons killing imaginary bad guys. And then there was Die Hard, Robocop, Rambo, The Terminator, Blood Sport; I loved them all! Fast-forward 20-something years and that passion has yet to expire. After building web and mobile games and taking a big jab at a narrative game over 6 years as an indie, I decided to take a stab at creating a simple action game that would satisfy the 7-year-old version of me. Enter Threat Level: Rising. Threat Level: Rising is a spoof and a celebration of late 80's and early 90's action movies. It takes heavy influence from the first Die Hard. You are a grizzly beat cop named McBane who's wife, daughter, brother Larry, dog and dental hygienist has been taken hostage by an evil mastermind who also happened to appropriate a high rise building for his unknown nefarious purposes. This third-person cover shooter takes place in that high-rise as you make your way to the top-most floor killing bad guys, disarming bombs, solving puzzles, rescuing hostages and more. Die and you start at the beginning; ground floor. By utilizing procedurally generated enemies and objectives, each playthrough will vary. Through repetition, the player will become the ultimate action hero. I'm about a month into development and my plan is to go to Continuous Release (Early Access ;^) ) soon in order to improve the game over time as well as add more floors and features. I'm taking a validated design approach where hopefully the community will help guide the life or death of the game. Stay tuned for more...
