Jaguar I-PACE has set a production EV record lap time of 1:48.18 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The all-electric SUV was on display at the 2018 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 24, 2018. Professional racing driver Randy Pobst drove the HSE First Edition variant of the I-PACE. Being priced at £58,995 (including government incentives), which equals to nearly Rs 53.60 Lakhs, it is available in three trim levels: S, SE and HSE – with an additional First Edition model available for the first year only.

Jaguar brought the I-PACE to the renowned road course in the United States as part of a marketing promotion with Motor Trend Group. The record time set by the SUV is the benchmark for the fastest lap at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for a four-door stock production vehicle. The all-electric SUV boasts of a 90kWh Lithium-ion battery comprising 432 pouch cells and is able to achieve a 0-80 percent battery charge in 40 minutes using 100kW DC fast charging. The British luxury automaker has placed the battery as low as possible between the axles, providing close to optimal 50:50 weight distribution and a low centre of gravity optimising composure and reducing body roll.
