some rambling of beginner game developer
Blah. I cant get a dam programming job anywhere. I applied to Electronic Arts as a game tester only because I think thats my only hope to get a dam job anywhere near the game field.

I think Plumbers Inc is almost done. I redid the editor for the 1 millionth time, but now I think its much better. I was thinking about doing multiple tilesets like snow, underwater and lunar surface, but I am not sure how much value that would add to a rather simple game. So ill have to really …
I think ive reached a milestone in my "career".
Well I finished the prototype of this water pipe puzzle game idea, and after viewing some of the feedback I got after maybe 10 people trying it...I think its worth finishing it and releasing it. I changed alot, including the name of the game to someth…

I have been further working on my little isometric engine, and its turning out pretty good. I am prototyping a puzzle game out now thats called Aqueduct, and ill try to get some working demo done by this weekend. Maybe ill post something more then, but heres a screen of the little editor for now.…
Well, it looks like I havent posted in forever again. Nothing big has happened since last post, but I guess I could talk about what did happen. Mainly I have played around with isometric graphics, and ive got a basic walk-around demo working. I think I might enter a small demo of some tank game …

Well, I am now able to import levels to my game. Now I am able to walk around the world, but then it kinda hit me with an Idea to raise/lower the tiles, then switch from orthographic to perspective view with a tilted angle. So I tried it out, and it turned out to look pretty good.
As cool as that …

been doing some rethinking on the map format and how I want to go about handling the levels. Ive been wanting to make my own editor for a while now, and so i decided to just start with that. Well the editor works alot better then I expected. I will have to work on multi-layering and making a muc…
Well, its been a while since the last update, but I have been learning alot. I decided to develop a shareware game to see where it could lead.
Well, I am not exacly sure of the game name exacly, but I think something along the name of some monster is good. Ive nailed down alot of the AI and collsi…

Well, I have been wrestling with the code and looking at alot of source code trying to figure out how pixel movment works in a tile engine. Well I finally figured out how it really works.

Well, I spent last night trying to get a tile map sort of system in and see how it goes. I thought it would be alot harder. The hardest part was trying to get the edges not to show up as black areas because of the directx window clipper. I made the back surface a little larger, then blit it on t…
Well, this is my first post in my developer journal. I think ill start with an introduction for starts, and use this post as a "start point".
Well I have not been developing/learning for too long. I have been learning c/c++ for about 2-3 years on/off, and about 1.5years ago I started on my first g…
