As for LAN play, there are no plans at the moment, but it sounds like a possibility down the line. :)

That would be great, I go to a Community College where we cannot connect to games directly over the internet but can use LANs. This game is exactly what people there like, there is usuallyt about 30-40 of us playing Halo demo on LAN's there. I bet at least 20 or so would enjoy this game.
