Here is a few concepts of the visual style for the base grounds in C:KP:

Grass base

Desert base


Water base



I think these show a nice level of quality, let me know what YOU think.

Well, they all seem to essentially be the same thing with different colours. :)

How about something to break the monotony of a big tile map? You could have multiple styles per tile-type (4-5 grass tiles, etc) that transition with eachother, or have things like patches of dead grass, flowers, hills(?), or other items of interest. Most gamers you'll find won't be too impressed by a big playing field of one tiled image. :(

yes well these are just base layers, there will be different things like waves in the water, flowers in the grass, stuff like that.

The walls on the outside all have the grass as the bottom [wink].
