Audio is actually fun!

So for the past couple of days I've been adding audio triggers to the game. In the context of my engine this is a really easy thing to do. Just ask the audio manager to play a particular audio resource and voila you get your sound.

Even though it's not technically challenging work adding these triggers it is proving to be a lot of fun. Maybe because it's finally getting to the "spit & polish" but just deciding when you're going to have a wacky sound fx is fun. It also really adds to the game play experience. Adding sounds for when you acheive a combo or power-up really lets the user know they've done something good. All in all it's good stuff.

I've got probably a couple more days of the audio stuff before I move onto the new task of creating more game levels. Currently I only have 5 levels implemented out of the 52 that I am targetting. The good news is that I was at least smart enough to make the levels totally data driven so I only need to create a bunch of XML data files. The bad news is I never created a level editor so it's me and notepad creating the data. :)
