I made quite a bit of progress today. I implemented ejecting, landing, and taking off. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to put together a movie tonight, but I've got some screens for you guys.
Ejecting is pretty much a feature that really doesn't do much beside looking cool. We might put a little gameplay mechanic into the game involving keeping your one player alive by ejecting before you crash, but we'll have to see. As you can see in the screeny below, sometimes its a good idea to eject...
This is a feature that we have to tread carefully with. If it's too realistic, we lose our arcade audience, but too easy, and it loses its purpose. I think I've struck a good compromise with the current system, it's pretty inuitive, and gives you room for error, but it still requires some skill. Here's a screeny of me about to land on a runway....
Mark has been drawing some of the airplanes we'll be featuring in the game, and he's put together this montage of the latest ones:
Well, let us know what you think, and I'll try and post a movie tomorrow! Peace Out!
P.S. My offer still stands, the first person to guess what game the airplane I made is from gets a cookie, plus another if they tell me what it's name is.
