Lack of motivation. Yeah, it's one of those months. I've learnt to not fight this, as I usually get a good burst of activity when it finishes.
Lack of 'interesting' programming. I've been working on the minimal GUI system which now pretty much works (although is obviously far from complete). However it looks really rough and doesn't do much (visually) except static text and images.
Lots of refactoring/reworking. I've been retrofitting the new menu system into Quix (the current online version has the old menu system). This does a couple of things - firstly it'll prove whether the menu system really is easy to use, secondly it'll flush out those awkward things I've forgotten to put in. While the end result will be much better, at the moment I'm stripping out lots of old code, breaking things all over the place and generally doing 'invisible' cleanup which doesn't actually change how the game looks or runs.
Once I get the new menu system doing all the same functionality as the old then I'm going to go over the menu styles (basically the pluggable drawing) and add replace the current debug/barebones stuff with nice and polished styles, complete with a whole load of new sprites. [grin]
