I thought that this would be a good medium to use for technical entries, as I'm pretty sure my small readership of friends for my normal blog could care less.
Anyhow, I am a soon to be Sophomore at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign studying computer science. Normally though, I live in Massachusetts. It's a hike, I know. I work during the summer at Foliage Software Systems (http://www.foliage.com/) where I am an intern in aviation software, though the summer before this one I also worked on medical applications.
I hope to keep some kind of at least bi-weekly log of the interesting things that are happening in my job. I can't go into much detail about the specifics of who any specific piece of software is for, as Foliage is essentially a consulting firm. That is, other companies who make various hardware devices outsource the development of software for those devices to us for any number of reasons. Usually it's because the software is too complex to develop in-house, or they need help making sure the software meets certain standards. Anyway, I'll make a conscious effort to leave out names.
It's getting late, but I wanted to make an entry since I was excited to have this journal. I hope if you're actually reading this, you'll check back sometime. I hope to write on many things, including:
- What a software development internship is like
- Software processes for safety-critical applications
- What I'm developing in my job this summer
- Math interests, specifically graph theory
- Random thoughts on current events in technology
It's time for bed now, a 90 minute commute is a bitch.
