Eureka
And with a crack and a boom, inspiration strikes.
I've been focusing my mind on Kingstone. I think I'm starting to finally lock down a good feel for the game. It's really quite hard to decide what a good atmosphere is - How deep you want the individual units to be, for example. I was having a tough time deciding on just how personal it should feel - On one hand, I wanted to give the feel of commanding large and significant forces, but on the other hand, I didn't want the completely impersonal feel of lording over a collection of mindless drones. I think I've found a happy medium, and that's good.
Please forgive me if I keep a somewhat tight lid on things. A lot of this stuff isn't really solid yet, and even when it is, I don't want to reveal too much too early. Over-hyping a game that doesn't exist can be a very stupid idea, and in case you haven't picked up on it by now, I'm being cautious. But, when I've got something to show, I will show it.
Good inspiration doesn't wait for anything. It doesn't strike when you want it to strike. It's not convenient in any sense of the word. You can be frustrated and stuck in the mud one moment, and the next, you finally get something which locks things into place, and the rest of your ideas come flying together. Be assured, inspiration DOES strike - just not when you want it to.
Now, if you'll excuse me, it's 5 AM, and I'm tired.
