Work
Wow it's been a busy day at work and tomorrow's going to kick off the same way with some conformance testing. Unfortunately I'm not doing a great deal of development but actually fixing problems and pushing things along.

The Game
I have to appologise that there hasn't been many funky screenshots for you to all enjoy and my programmer art isn't that exciting! Unfortunately I've been coding heap loads of infrastructure code and unless you think the STL is dead sexy then it's not all that exciting. Things will change :-)

4E5
Am I the only one not entering? I like the idea of the competition but I find the elements too restrictive on my imagination. Yes you can be very creative with these criteria however they don't fit in with any of the umpteen ideas I already have on my list without serious adaptation.

I was going to enter 4E5 but can't figure out a way to work in a non-stilted emblem usage.

So I'm going to spend the time on my main game instead.

BTW, you could probably improve your sprites if you'd just outline them with a single pixel black outline -- I did this for my sprites and now they *pop* off the screen.

I too am not entering. I was pondering a quickie edutainment quiz sorta game, since such a thing would be easy to write up, and easy to push Europe and Emblem (the two hard ones) into the mix.

Still, it's wouldn't be easy to mix in the other two while not making them feel bolted on, so I'm just going to continue work on my big project and job hunting. And now that my main computer is dead, I can't do any work on anything...

I was actually working out some kind of 4E5 entry about angry stockbrokers who go on a violent rampage in Europe (along with press-the-buttons conversation scenes with beautiful women), but just couldn't work in the emblem unless they were part of some iconic revolutionary group. *shrug*

I'd perhaps look into making the emblem the various monetary denominators throughout europe. The group might be rampaging to place the pound/franc/deutchmark over the sinister euro.

That could be quite nice, it would have to be the £ though :O)

I suspect the majority of entries will fall in to two categories:
1. One or Two of the elements well developed, original, fresh and the other two bolted on to meet the requirements.
2. All four elements catered for to a good standard but nothing revolutionary.

And to win I suspect you'll need to really push the boundaries on all four elements.

Thanks for the tip on the sprites! I'll definitely give it a go when I next work on them.

Just adapt your current project into a 4E5 entry.
