Hey everyone!

Not much got done today.... actually lots got done today, just not much of it was visual, so I have nothing to show for it[grin]

Vehicles
I got vehicles coded up and working today, which is a good thing, because Mark and I have lots of plans for missions that have to deal with convoys and stuff, and whats a convoy without trucks? Anyways, they just drive and die right now, but they can be affected via scripting, so that gives us some cool opportunities. I'm not going to post a screen of them tonight, because they aren't that exciting right now, and I'm using old textures, so hopefully Mark will give me a new truck sprite tomorrow, and I'll show you guys a good old fashioned action packed screenshot!

Scripting
So now that scripting is in place, I have to add all the triggers and reactions that we're going to need, which isn't very fun, but it is pretty rewarding after you're done and you have tons of cool things you can make happen just by editing a .txt file.

A Name
So now that the engine I'm working on is actually functional, and something I'm proud of, I'd like to name it something besides the Angels 22 Engine. I also need a name for the scripting language, but I am at a loss at the moment, so I thought I'd ask you guys if you can think of any good names, so if you can think of a good one, leave a comment!

Well, it's really late here, and I'm pretty tired, so I'll talk to you guys later. Also I apologize for how bad this post is laid out, and its general lack of content, I'll do better tomorrow, I promise[grin] Peace Out!

Call your software "Internal Combustion." Then you can tell everyone your game runs on an Internal Combustion Engine.

Sorry.

What's the control scheme? Can you control the plane with the mouse?

We were just talking about that yesterday... movement is going on the arrow keys like last time(like ptch, afterburners, etc.), with other stuff set up around WASD, because that seems like a common spot for stuff, but we really need to test.
We also talked about an all-numpad scheme for those of us that just have more important things to do with that other hand(?).

I'll have to think about a name for the thingy though.

Aristocracy Engine and Slingshot Script. Uh, yeah. I'm not that creative yet, it's too early in the morning.

Don't worry, I'll be here all day....

how about Angelic?.

I was actually thinking that AngelScript would be a damn good name, but a google search shows me thats already been taken[crying]

A22, kinda sounds like a fighter plane name. I cant figure out a name for the scripting language...:D

Yeah, its a nice shortening of Angels 22, but it lacks the ring of a good name...

Mark answered this pretty good, although as a side note, when I was coding the AI for the wingman, I took out the player plane, and was able to give the wingman waypoints using the mouse, all we'd have to do then is let you designate targets and switch units and we'd have a strategy game......

Thanks for the replys!

After brainstorming, I came up with a couple of names to toss in the pool.

Scripting Language Name Recommendation:
-- [ASL] Aereo Scripting Language [aereo = aerial in latin I believe]

Engine Name Recommendation:
-- [EE] Elemental Engine

Or Vice-versa. Aereo Engine, Elemental Scripting Language.
