Uh oh...um...I forget the rest

Well, the Halo 2 tournament was canceled and rescheduled for July 30th. As it turns out, it might be 4 vs 4, in which case we won't enter. Hopefully we'll be able to enter next weekend. It's a shame, we were hoping to use the prize money to help pay for a XBox 360.

I suppose I have to start writing the Blocky Man level editor *groan*. Well, I should just get it over with so I can move on to...you know...actually making the game. I also have to still order that Managed DirectX book, but that's something else entirely.

So, since I don't really have anything development related yet, I'll put some other stuff.

I'm currently reading the whole series of "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" books. I just finished "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe". They are really interesting and funny books. I don't usually read novels in my spare time, but these are good enough to keep me reading for hours.

Am I the only one who listens to old video game midis while programming? I've been collecting a list of my favorite video game songs, and putting them in a Windows Media Player playlist. Here is what I have so far:

Ice Cap Zone - Sonic 3
Wily Fortress 1 remix - Megaman 2
Hikari no Willpower - Dragonball GT: Final Bout
Awakening road - Megaman X
Sky Sanctuary - Sonic & Knuckles
Collapsed City - Onimusha Blade warriors
Another World - Chrono Cross
Battle - Gundam F91
Boss battle - Final Fantasy 9
Fisherman's Horizon - Final Fantasy 8
Heavy Arms - Gundam Wing
Wily Fortress 1 - Megaman 2
Storm Eagle - Megaman X
River stage - Marvel vs Capcom 2
Roll - Marvel vs Capcom
Stage 1 - Streets of Rage 2
Spark Mandrill - Megaman X
Opening Stage - Megaman 8
Chemical Plant Zone - Sonic 2
Flying Battery Zone - Sonic & Knuckles

I have to find out where I can buy mp3 video game songs.

Midis are boring [grin], I get my VG music fix from The DoD. I also like VGMix since it has a lot of remixes and peer based judging unlike OCRemix which is all shitty dance, but the sites been down for retooling for a long time [sad].

Thanks for the links.

I just downloaded the Sonic 2 album from OCremix, but didn't like the rest of the site. I'll check out those other ones.

The majority of my Winamp playlist is old game music. I like to save the tracks from games I like, and sometimes I dowload MIDI tracks from old games that have a certain style I want to use in my game in order to set the mood while working.

Only some of these are MIDI, but some games I have in MIDI form:

Chrono Trigger
The Legend of Zelda series
Seiken Densetsu 3 / Secret of Mana 2
Quest for Glory 4: Shadows of Darkness

These are sampled formats (S3M, IT or MOD):

Deus Ex
Unreal Tournament
Unreal Tournament 2004
Super Castlevania 4

These are MP3 or OGG:

Baldur's Gate 2
Heros of Might and Magic 3
Outlaws
Planescape Torment
Warcraft 2
Sid Meier's Pirates!

It's a bit of a real mix in there [grin]. And that's just the game music...

I used to listen to a lot of OC Remix but I don't much anymore. Dunno why. And it's not all shitty dance, some of the "Children of the Monkey Machine" stuff is just plain weird.
