I'm coming up with some things I need to hack into my GUI system before I move on. Here's what I've got so far:
- Allow multiple selection
- Add event messaging
- Add a console system
Switch ListBox mouse-wheel scrolling to hovering instead of active- done
- Add CSS-esque skin system
Add text color values to the skin files for almost all widgets- done
- Add horizontal scrolling to the textbox
- Add multiple cursors
- Add animated cursors
- Add size values to Counter, ListBox, DropDownList, Fader, and Tally
The D&D system (or atleast Baldur's Gate's adaptation of it) is totally fucked. I understand that it's designed for long running games and non-god characters, but with all of my stats at 25 I shouldn't miss as much as I do. I should be able to run in, *swing swing* and everything be dead, but no. My hit percentage didn't go up very much going from a 18 dexterity to a 25 dexterity and dropping my THAC0 by 10. Something is messed up there.
While I'm on the topic of RPG systems, I'll be discussing mine pretty soon.
When you see something like "Dock 12", do you assume that the dock is 12 years old? No. You assume that it is dock number 12. So, why is it then that everyone assumes that I'm 16. And no, I wasn't 16 when I started using Programmer16, I was 14.
Actual conversation from Halo 2:
Me: Hey, why don't you try aiming that thing at someone other than your own team mate?!
Him: Why don't you shut the fuck up? You suck anyway.
Me: The only reason I'm sucking is because your mom's sucking.
Him: STFU! You're 16, you don't even know what you're talking about.
Me: I'm 19, not 16.
I also get a lot of people making comments like "Can you program your microwave/vcr?" and "PROGRAM THAT TURRET! PROGRAM IT!". And then there are the people that try to convince me that "game programmers aren't necessary because computers can make the games now."
