Now...moving on to entities

Got spring boards working:

They work incredibly well. There is only one problem with it though, a bug that I should have predicted. If you are able to press the jump button at the exact moment you land on the spring, you'll end up doing a normal jump rather than using the spring.

Now that I think of it, I wonder if anyone would have discovered that if I hadn't had mentioned it. But, people have a way of finding these things out.

Now I move on to entities. After all, it just wouldn't be right if I didn't have random enemies walking around. Jumping on enemies is how you kill them in this game. That will probably make bosses pretty hard to design, though.

I think we need more original journal titles. Seeing the "Fortress of Awesometude" and "The Tub of Awesome" next to eachother is just weird.

Oh yeah and good luck with your current project.

It's really starting to come together. If the boss battles are anything like Stompy's Revenge (set pieces), maybe just place some springboards around the area so you can get enough height to land on top of the boss. You probably already thought of that though [smile].

Don't worry, I'll change my journal title to "The Adventures of Blocky Man" until I finish this project. I think I should name it after whatever project I'm working on.

Actually, I hadn't thought of using springs against the bosses, but that does make sense. However, you can probably expect some wierd boss battles in this game.

you say that you can jump when you are on a spring?

erm, i'm just judging from your screenshot, but why don't you disable jumping when in the air?

nice job!

Jumping is disabled when in the air.

However, the player must be on the ground and not jumping before a spring will propel them up. If you land on a spring, there is a split second where the player lands on the ground before being bounced back in the air. If you press the jump button at that moment, you'll do a normal jump rather than a spring jump.
