Pixel Art 1

Well, my insomnia ensues. I haven't been able to get to bed before 8am in about 7 days.

Anyway, I decided to do a pixel-art image. All in all, I have to say it turned out pretty good. It's missing some shading and shadows, but I that's not the easiest thing to do in MSPaint. I could do it no problem with Photoshop, but I want to keep my pixel art hand-done (other than game stuff.) Anyway, here it is:

Comments are welcome.

I also worked on some game pixel art the other day. Here is my walking anim (just the legs):

I'm not quite sure how my entry is going to turn out since modelling is a no go and I can't get the perspective I want using pixel-art. I could always use some of Reiner's, but then I wouldn't be able to make the character change armor and such.

I'm off to try to sleep some more.

Edit - 3:55am

Sleep still evades me[sad]. Even worse, I have no sleeping pills. The good news is that I actually managed to hit the perspective that I want. And, although this character looks entirely lame, it turned out pretty decent in my opinion:

I think I'm going to go the Baldur's Gate route though, and not include any details in the face. That'll make things much easier (especially since it should be covered up for 90% of the game.

Yeah, the eraser tool in MSPaint is really a color replacer tool, which'll help with the shading a lot, even if it is a bit hard to get used to. (right click replaces the primary color with the secondary)

I know Paint waaay too well, so if you need help...

Hey Mark, thanks! I had forgotten about the color replacer.

I might take you up on that offer. Pretty much the only thing I know that the common MSPaint user doesn't (by common paint user I mean my friends lol) is the control and shift operations.

Nice work on all of the artistic counts there, P16. I think your current art style is just fine for the game; I'd certainly be happy to play it looking like that! [smile]

Keep up the progress!
