I've just decided that now I have paid for GDNet+, I need to put something in the Showcase section so I've decided to put my massively single player role playing game on hold for a few days and write a nice simple game.

Part of the appeal of having access to the showcase was that I hoped it would motivate me to actually finish stuff for a change, so I need a nice simple project that I stand a chance of completing over the weekend.

I figure I can use my previously mentioned image format thing to create a single texture with all the graphics on I need along with alpha information and I reckon it would be a good exercise both in D3D and Visual C++ Express, which I have only recently downloaded.

I love that "click to fold up the function" thing in the editor. Kind of reminds me of AMOS Basic on the Amiga where you could fold up procedures. I remember with AMOS you could even then password-protect a specific procedure or something so you could distribute them while maintaining your intellectual property rights. Great days indeed.

I'm getting quite taken by this journal idea as well. A great way to formalise your thoughts without feeling like you are imposing on people by rambling in the forums.
