I took another shot at the lighting for Project Asrion today and it turned out a lot better. Also, thanks to Raymond I was able to fix my perspective problem. I was being dumb and doing integer division while expecting a float results[headshake].

Anyway, here's a screeny for the new lighting:

Deyja was right. I went in and modified my models normals to point straight up (effectively turning them into surface normals instead of vertex normals).

Whew, I'm really piling things on myself now. I'm actively working on 3 projects now (???, Project Asrion, and TLCoM) plus I told Deyja I would try to make some tiles for him.

Now, since I've spent about 4 hours working on each of my 3 projects, I'm going to spend a few hours on some tiles and then I'm off to bed.

Unless you're duplicating your verticies for each face, the side surfaces will now not light properly! Doh!

Also, the 'vertex normal' way is much preferably if you are going to do vertex lighting over round objects.

Looking good! The lighting definitely adds a lot to the quality of the visuals. [smile]

As for having 3 projects on the go: take it from me, you don't want to do it for long. I remember back when I had 3 of them going (Admiral Overalls, Skirmish, and Star of Shadows) I was tearing out my hair on a bi-weekly basis. Not pretty. So do yourself a favour and drop at least one. You'll thank yourself one day. [grin]

3 projects? I think you forgot, "damn-near fulltime Angels 22 tester". I think you've tried every single version and helped me track down tons of bugs, but don't even think about asking for a paycheck[wink]

Yea, I had thought about that, but I'm not quite sure how to fix it. Maybe I'll message psyjax because he seems to be building a similar engine.

Yea, having 3 projects running is quite a pain, but my new one shouldn't isn't going to last more than two weeks.

Glad to hear that I'm helping[smile]. And I would never ask for a paycheck! I only accept cash[wink].

It may seem like a feat, but I only work 2 days a week. The rest of the time I only have to worry about minor interruptions. Sadly I'm almost completely devoid of a social life due to the fact that 90% of the people in my city do drugs or drink[sad].

Thanks for all of the comments guys!
