Oh yeah, I forgot to mention; my last three computers were named after Galdalf (AMD K6-2 300: Mithrandir, Some intel Laptop: Gandalf, AMD K7 1400: Stormcrow), so I decided to change things up and go with a different name for once: Elendil.

People give boats and cars names, so why not computers?
PS: since I didn't choose a name for my car when I bought it, the nice people at work named it for me: "Ron's Biatch".

I think I may have named my car, but I've forgotten it because I never use the name. My desktop is named "Main" and my lappy is named "Lappy." The closest I've come to giving a serious name to something that can't appreciate said name is the biggest fish in my goldfish/koi pond, "Big Motherfucker." I call him this because he is the biggest motherfucking fish I've ever owned.
Wasn't that a nice story?

My dog does have a name, but that's mainly because he's aware of it and knows enough to come when called. That's why the goldfish doesn't have a name.
Does your refrigerator have a name? How about your water heater?

My fridge is "Mr. Fridge" and my water heater is "The First Water Heater I've Ever Had That Holds Enough Hot Water For A Whole Shower." Sometimes, I abbreviate that to "Mr. Water Heater."

I call my water heater "You stupid fucking piece of shit!".
It doesn't have enough water in it for a whole shower through the months of October to March.

I've got solar. From about April to October, hot water's free.
If I lived in Buffalo, I'd look at one of those new tankless things. Storing warm water in a cold climate doesn't make much sense. Also you don't have to worry about leaks.

Yeah, but I live in an apartment, so I can't do much about it.
About names again:
Planets have names, and they are not able to comprehend that they have them. So why not computers?

Heavenly bodies didn't have names until we were required to differentiate between 'em. When there's only one of something, like "The Moon" or your car, there's no point.
