Alpha-tastic!

So today was all about implementing alpha and additive blending into Membrane Massacre. And I must say, it looks awesome. Virtually all particles make use of blending now, which adds a huge +1 to the game's overall feel. All weapons now use blending, as well as the LASER! Bzzzzzzt! (And gah, virtually no performance hit! [grin])

EDIT: I'll see if I can whip up a gameplay video for my next entry. [smile]

(BZZZZZZZT! And new enemy-death-'gobs'! Much nicer than bland circles!)

Review ...sort of

Membrane Massacre has seen its first official review! Unfortunately, it's in Czech. D'oh. If anyone can read Czech and would be kind enough to translate it for me (none of the online translators work [crying]), it would be vastly appreciated. Even if the words aren't nice, it's neat to see someone took the time to write up something about the game.

And gah, I can't belive MM is just about up to 1000 downloads! Insane! :D

Hey the other reviewers there averaged it as a 9. I'm sure that site plus the others plus the 943 is past 1500 by now. Keep up the great work. :D

I am still waiting for my Mac version.
Until then, I give this game a rating of: Suck. As in, it sucks that I can't play this, and you suck for not giving me a Mac version sooner.

I am a very unhappy, bitter visage.

Also, congrats...I guuueeessssss

I've decided to wait until the game is done done until handling the porting stuff. So hang tight -- it's-a-comin'! :)

visage, I'm planning on porting it as soon as I can figure out how to trick the Allegro dylib into coming into my .app package instead of looking for it in the user's library folders. I don't want to force people to install things. [crying]

Ask on Allegro.cc. They have a pretty killer set of folks on the forum there that should be able to help you out.

I am watching your development for few months and I hope I'll once get on your level :)

And I also translated (at least tried to:) the Czech rewiew.
At first ,sorry for the mistakes.

Membrane Massacre is new and undoubtly interesting freeware action game which deserves interest of all space shooter players neverthless it is not in space environment.Authors {too good to be made by one man :D} will lead you to not very explored living organism full of interesting misions and "twisting" {not sure how to translate} tunnels but mostly marauder cells that have to be stopped as soon as possible.

Paradox is that althought we are not in space, our home is rocket of really small scale also equipted with weapons in the beginning simple that will be upgraded by the time , but not by freely lounging bonuses.Upgrade is occuring at the end of the level but also not at every one.
You also get some amunition at the begining but you should spare it because of its limited quantity.

Mission in every level is almost the same. The difference is in the way of "interpreting" {again not sure about the translate}.
The environment where the rocket is moving is changing, membered and putted together from at first sight with homogeneous matter on which are feeding the targets of your effort.
These are at the beginning simply looking objects of yellow colour that don't react on your raids at all.
It's up to you to eliminate all of them moving in quite small level.
Orientation in many times monotonous area is supported by nifty radar situated at the upper part of your screen where all objects of your interest are marked by red color thanks to which you simply can't miss them.

To the attraction of the game are helping the intermittent changes that are only good.
Almost in every level you encounter new kind of enemy differencing not only by color but mainly by attributes and weapon equipment.
Yet in second level will be sometimes shooting violet balls which will also be replaced in more numbered red ones and this will repeat.
However it look like, avoiding the projectile and destroying similar enemies will amuse you for really long time.

Technical part of Membrane Massacre is at least as good as "playability" {again not sure, but i think you know what I mean} thanks to what we have the honour{to meet} with at first sight simple, but very funny game. Download!

Well,keep on programming! :D
